New 2024 GMC Yukon AT4 Diesel, Specs, Colors

New 2024 GMC Yukon AT4 Diesel, Specs, ColorsThe 2024 GMC Yukon competes in the full-size SUV segment against other well-known models in the group, like the Nissan Armada, and Ford Expedition, and Chevrolet Tahoe. However, because there are three available powertrains, not all trims are created equal. The MSRP of the GMC Yukon ranges from $55,000 for the base model up to $92,150 over five trim levels.

The 5.3-liter V8 base engine produces 355 horsepower and 519 pound-feet of torque. The GMC Yukon has an 8,300-pound towing capability with this engine. Additionally, there is a 6.2L V8 engine with a 420 horsepower output. A 3.0L Inline-6 Turbodiesel engine with a 277 horsepower output is also an option for the GMC Yukon. Along with both engines, a 10-speed automatic transmission is available.

2024 GMC Yukon Redesigned

Regarding aesthetics, the most recent GMC Yukon outperforms the model it replaces. It has more presence than before, mainly due to the more prominent grille and standout lighting. All models include a standard LED headlamp, a fog lamp, a daytime running lamp, and taillamp technology. The base model only features 18-inch alloy wheels, whereas the other models in the series have larger 20-inch ones. Red recovery curves and a performance front skid plate can be found on the tough AT4. The Denali arrives standard with a panoramic power sunroof, and most other trims, including our AT4 tester, have it as an option. The grille and bodyside moldings on the Denali are also finished in satin chrome.

This SUV looks appealing and blends well at a top-notch ski resort. In particular, the Yukon AT4 has a beautiful exterior appearance. Our Satin Steel Metallic tester ($495 option) came with the $8,650 AT4 Premium Plus Package, which includes an adjustable air suspension, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and power-retractable aid steps with excellent LED perimeter lighting. However, there has lately been a discount on this bundle. We would have chosen a pair of winter tires at this time of year instead of the all-terrain tires mounted on the 20-inch aluminum rims with Carbon Grey Metallic highlights.

Interior

An interior technology update for 2024 adds a 12.0-inch digital gauge display and a new infotainment interface as standard equipment, giving the 2024 GMC Yukon a slight internal change from its prior models. The dashboard is coated with soft-touch material, and the interior materials are more premium. All of the controls and buttons have a chrome finish. The buttons are symmetrically situated, and the steering wheel is buttery smooth. Although the front seats have plenty of room, taller people may have trouble getting in and out of the car.

In three rows, the 2024 GMC Yukon has seating for eight people. There is 40% more space overall in the vehicle. Genuine leather seats are an upgrade from the usual cloth ones. Long drives are made very comfortable by the seats. The driver and the passenger can comfortably rest their arms on the wide armrest. Three adults might fit in the area towards the back. There is enough room for your kids in the third row, while the space for adults is a little less but still more significant than in most SUVs. In terms of the infotainment system, each GMC Yukon comes with a floating 10.2-inch infotainment display. The display is of high quality, and there is no screen glare problem, even in direct sunlight. On the screen are seven USB and auxiliary ports and HD and satellite radio.

Engine

GMC chose to stick with pure displacement and natural aspiration for the two V8s rather than downsizing and forced induction. These are well-known engines that are also in the Chevrolet Tahoe. The smaller 5.3-liter V8 generates 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, but you must rev it up to 4,100 rpm to reach that maximum torque level. The 6.2-liter V8’s greater 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque give it a distinct advantage off the line and overtaking maneuvers at higher speeds. Even though the 3.0-liter turbocharged Duramax inline-six only has 277 horsepower, it is known for its 460 lb-ft of torque, delivered at just 1,500 rpm.

Every Yukon comes with a smooth, responsive 10-speed automatic transmission, regardless of the engine option. Compared to the six-speeder utilized for the previous generation Yukon, this gearbox does a far better job of maximizing the lower outputs of the smaller V8. Unfortunately, the oil burner, which would probably serve this trim the best because the torque kicks in early in the rpm range, cannot be installed in the AT4.
